Starting May 17 and ending May 22, students will have an opportunity to shine as they put their learning to the test. Last year our API jumped 29 points to 784 thanks to all students putting forth their full effort. This year, we know the same stellar effort will push us past the coveted 800 API score! School Calendar Updates -- Last Day is June 19 and 2012-2013 Calendar is Available

Please note that the last day of school for this 2011-2012 school year is June 19, given the district furlough days at the end of the year. Also, LAUSD has released its calendar for the upcoming school year. Note that the school board approved an earlier start to the school year resulting in a shortened summer -- the first day of school will be Tuesday, August 14. DMHS on ABC News - Watch the Story!

On Friday, April 20, ABC News interviewed students and faculty at DMHS to highlight our students' participation in the National Day of Silence to raise awareness and take a stand against discrimination against the LGBT community. Spearheaded by our active GSA Club, a large number of students participated by maintaining silence throughout the school day. We are proud of our students for taking a stand. Shine on, Suns! DMHS Debaters in Washington, DC for National Competition This Weekend!

After a hotly contested LAMDL Finals, the DMHS Debate Team enjoyed multiple victories, including one Varsity team (Long You and Jeremy Chavez), which qualified for the National Debate Tournament April 12 - 15. Congratulations Suns!

DMHS Student invited to White House Science Fair!

We are proud to announce that DMHS student Hayley Hoverter was invited to attend the White House Science Fair for High School students as part of the Obama Administration initiative to promote excellence in math and science. Hayley was invited to present her innovative Sweet (Dis)Solve product, a paperless sweetener that dissolves in warm beverages.
